Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:4-13

Rejoice!

Paul is in prison, false teaching, selfishness, strife – one word tension

Verse 4 Rejoice –

-          Matt 5 Rejoice in persecution for great is your reward in heaven

-          Luke 10:20 rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven

-          The Father rejoicing that his son came home in the prodigal son

-          Phil has this as a major theme

-          In most cases this word deals with thoughts of God and His salvation.

Verse 5 You are a reflection of God to people around you.

Verse 6 Be anxious for nothing. This verse reminds me of the sermon on the Mount where Jesus is talking about prayer and then He talks about the flowers on the filed and the birds in the air being taken care of and how much more the Father loves us.

Verse 7 Peace of God in a chaotic world. Matrix with Neo with the bullets

Verse 8 This list is very similar to Psalm 19

Verse 11 contentment in circumstance comes from knowing God
